Black women struggle every day for many rights and privileges that White Americans take for granted. Unequal pay affects every aspect of life. Institutional racism is real, and combating it is a large part of the reason for observing Black Women’s Equal Pay Day. This day is marked on the current year calendar as the day Black women “caught up” to the earnings of White males after the end of the previous year. Yes, we have to work from January 1 to August 3 on the same scale as White men.
